Privacy notice
What we collect through this site, why, where it goes and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: only what we need to quote for your car, and no tracking.
Who we are
Import South African Cars is a My Car Import website. My Car Import is the data controller for anything you send us through it, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.

What we collect
Only what you type into the quote form:
- your name, email address and phone number;
- details of the car, such as the make, model, year and value, and your answers about customs, documents and transport;
- the collection address in South Africa;
- anything you write in the message box.
If you reached us by clicking an advert, the advert reference in the page address (such as a Google click ID or campaign name) is saved with your request, so we can see which adverts lead to enquiries. This is read from the link you clicked; it is not a cookie or a tracking tag.
Why we use it
To prepare your quote and to follow it up with you. Because you asked us for a quote, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our service.
If you go ahead, we use the same details to run the import.
Where it goes
- Our database. Quote requests are stored in a secure database hosted by Supabase.
- Our sales team. Each request is emailed to our sales team's customer relationship system, so the person quoting for your car has the details.
- Our hosting. The website itself is hosted by Vercel, which handles the requests your browser makes to load the pages.
How long we keep it
For as long as we need it to quote for your car and, if you go ahead, to carry out the import. After that we keep or delete it in line with the My Car Import privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- stop using your data, if you object to how we use it.

Cookies
This site sets no cookies, and it loads no analytics or advertising tags today. The fonts, images and maps are all served from this site, so your browser does not contact anyone else to show them.
Three things are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device only: your cookie choice, so we do not ask again, any ticks you make on our checklists, and a light or dark colour setting if you pick one at the foot of the page. None of them is sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
While you fill in the quote form, your answers about the car and where it is are kept in that browser tab only, so a refresh does not lose them. Your name, email address and phone number are never kept this way. The saved answers are deleted when you send the form or close the tab, and nothing is sent to us until you press send.
If we add analytics later, they will only run if you agree to them, and this page will name them.
